Nagaraja Stores

If you ever go down Bangalore Main Road, you will find Nagaraja Stores at No. 19. It’s a place that’s easy to find because we are right there on the main stretch where all the buses go by. We’ve been here for a long time, and the shop has a lot of history in its walls. We sell all sorts of things, mostly items that people need for their homes on a daily basis. The shelves are packed tight, sometimes all the way to the ceiling. It can be a bit of a squeeze when more than three or four people are inside at once. We don't have a big staff, usually just a couple of us behind the counter. We know many of the people who walk through the door because they’ve been coming here for years. The floor is old tile and it’s worn down in the spots where people stand the most. In the mornings, we spend time putting out the new stock and cleaning the glass cases. There’s always a bit of dust because of the road outside, but we try to keep up with it. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just open the shutters in the morning and close them at night. It’s a simple way to make a living. People stop by for a quick chat and to pick up what they need. It’s just a regular local shop doing what it’s always done.
