The Rajajinagar Timber Market is a very specific kind of place to work. You can smell the cut wood and the sawdust as soon as you turn the corner into the main area. Nagaraja Rao B R is located at number 1025, which is right across from the Abhimani Prakashana building. Being in the timber market means our days involve a lot of dust and heavy lifting. It’s an old part of town and the buildings around here definitely show their age. Our space is usually filled with whatever materials or logs we are moving that week. We don't have a modern showroom with bright lights and fancy displays. It’s more of a functional workspace where we talk to contractors and local people who are looking to fix up their homes or build something new. The traffic outside can get incredibly loud with all the lorries coming in and out to deliver wood. We usually open up early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool and fresh. By noon, it gets quite dusty, so we keep the doors half-shut sometimes to keep the mess out. It’s been this way for a long time. People around here know the address easily because of the landmark right across the street. We don’t really bother with much decoration or anything like that. There’s just a desk for the paperwork and some old wooden chairs for anyone who wants to sit and talk business for a bit. We just focus on the daily tasks.
