Mural General Stores

Mural General Stores is our family business over on Gangamma Gudi Road in Ramamurthy Nagar. We are at number 149, which is close to the local temple. Because of that, we get a lot of people stopping by on their way to or from prayers. We sell a bit of everything—stationery, snacks, household cleaners, and those small things you always seem to run out of. The shop is pretty old-fashioned with wooden counters and shelves that go all the way to the ceiling. We have to use a ladder sometimes to reach the stuff at the top. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except for the festive seasons when the road gets packed with people. We know most of our customers by their first names and we know what they usually like to buy. If someone is short a few rupees, we usually tell them to pay next time; that’s just how things work in this neighborhood. We don’t have a big marketing plan or a website. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait for the regulars to show up. Ramamurthy Nagar is a nice place to have a shop like this because people still value the local store over the big supermarkets. At 149 Gangamma Gudi Road, we just keep things moving at a steady pace. It’s been this way for years, and we don't expect it to change much. We just take it one day at a time and hope for the best.
