Mt Bricks

You can find us over at 98 Sathnur Road in Jarakbandekaval. Mt Bricks is basically just a big yard where we make and stack bricks all day long. It is a lot of outdoor work so we are always at the mercy of the weather. When it rains, everything turns into a muddy mess and we have to cover the unbaked bricks with plastic sheets. When it is hot, the dust just gets everywhere, in your hair and in your clothes. We have a few lorries that come in and out to pick up loads for building sites around the city. The noise of the engine starting up early in the morning is our alarm clock. We spend hours just moving bricks from one pile to another to make room for new ones coming out of the kiln. It is heavy work and our hands are usually rough from the clay and grit. We don't have a big sign or a fancy entrance, just the gate and the stacks of red bricks that you can see from the road. Sometimes customers come by just to see the quality before they buy a whole truckload. We just show them what we have and tell them the price. There is no sales talk here. If the bricks are good, people buy them. That is the way we like to do things day after day without too much fuss.
