Mithra Caterers

Our place is right across from the old Vidyarthi Bhavan hotel in Basavanagudi. If you’ve spent any time in this part of Bangalore, you know exactly where that is. We’ve been running Mithra Caterers at No. 166 for a long time. Basavanagudi has a specific feel to it, and we try to fit right in with that. We aren't trying to change the world with our food; we just want to serve the kind of meals that people in this neighborhood have grown up eating. Our kitchen is a busy place, especially in the mornings when we start prepping for the day's orders. We have a few regulars who come by to talk about their upcoming family functions or temple events. It’s a very local business, and we like it that way. We don't have a big marketing budget or a social media person. Most people hear about us from their friends or family members who used us before. We use traditional recipes and don't try to get too fancy with the ingredients. It’s about making sure the taste is right and the quantity is enough for everyone. Working in such an iconic part of the city means we have to keep up a certain standard, but we do it in our own quiet way. It’s a family-style operation where everyone knows their role and just gets on with it, day in and day out, because that is how we have always done things.
