Ming Ling

Ming Ling is right on Mahathma Gandhi Road, at number 73. It’s a very central spot, so we get a lot of people coming in who are shopping or working in the city center. We’ve been cooking here for a long time. The kitchen is old, and you can tell by the way the walls look near the stoves, but it’s where all the work happens. We do a lot of Chinese dishes that people have grown used to over the years. It’s not a quiet place. Between the traffic outside and the noise of the kitchen, there’s always something going on. We have a few regular families who have been coming to us since their kids were small. Now those kids are grown up and bring their own friends. It makes us feel old, but it’s nice. We don't have a website or anything like that. We just rely on the fact that people know where we are and what we do. Sometimes the service is a bit slow when we’re packed on a weekend night, but we do our best to keep everyone fed. We just focus on the cooking and let everything else take care of itself. It's a simple way to run a restaurant, but it works for us. We just keep the woks hot and the dining room ready for whoever walks in next.
