Our branch of Metlife is at No 1 16B Shakthi Nager, right behind the Tin Factory in Doorvani Nagar. If you’re in Bangalore, you probably know the Tin Factory area because of the traffic, but we are tucked behind it so it’s a bit quieter for us. We’ve been at this Bangalore 14 address for a long time. It’s a practical location for our staff to get to. The office itself is quite plain, just the essentials really. We handle a lot of different files and customer queries throughout the day. It’s not a place with a lot of hierarchy; we all just pitch in where needed. Some days are faster than others, especially when there’s a lot of paperwork to clear out. We don't have a big sign with lights or anything. It's just a regular door in Shakthi Nager. We drink a lot of tea to keep us going through the afternoon slump. Most of us have been working here for years, so we know the routines by heart. We don’t bother with corporate slogans or mission statements. We just try to be helpful to the people who come in or call us. Behind the busy roads of Doorvani Nagar, we’re just doing our bit. It’s a straightforward way to run a business, and it seems to work for us and the local people we see.
