Meena Stores

Meena Stores is over in the Krishnarajapuram GIDC Estate at plot number 31. We aren't a big supermarket or anything. It's more of a general store where we keep the essentials. Since we are in the GIDC estate, a lot of our customers are workers from the nearby factories. They come in for snacks, drinks, or small household items they forgot to get elsewhere. It can get very crowded during the lunch hour and right after the shifts end. We try to keep the shelves stocked, but sometimes we run out of things faster than the delivery truck comes. The shop is a bit small, so we have to stack things high. You have to be careful not to knock anything over. We've been here for a while and know many of the faces that come through the door. It’s a noisy area with all the industrial stuff going on nearby. We don't have air conditioning, just a couple of fans that we keep running. It’s a simple life running a store like this. We don’t do any fancy promotions. People just know we are at number 31. We stay open late most nights because that's when people need us. It’s honest work and it keeps us connected to the people living and working around Krishnarajapuram. We have been here since the estate started getting busy years ago.
