Mayura Hair Dressing Saloon

We are over at No. 78 on the 7th Cross of Raman Janeya Main Road. This is in the Hanumantha Nagar area of Bangalore, zip code 560019. It’s a pretty traditional part of town. The saloon has been here for years, and not much has changed inside. We have the same old chairs and the big mirrors that have seen thousands of haircuts. I usually walk to work since I live nearby. The street gets quite lively in the evenings with people heading home or going to the shops. We get a lot of older gentlemen who have been coming to Mayura since they were young men. Now they bring their grandsons. It’s nice to see that. We don't do anything too modern or experimental. People come here because they know exactly what they are going to get. A simple cut, a shave, and maybe a little head massage if they have the time. The radio is usually playing some local songs in the corner. We keep our tools sharp and our aprons clean. Sometimes the tea man from down the street brings us some chai during the afternoon slump. It’s a good way to spend the day, just working with your hands and talking to the people from the neighborhood. It’s a simple, honest business without any of the extra fuss.
