Manjunath Bricks

We spend most of our days out here on Subramanya Pura Road in Uttarahalli. It’s a busy spot near Simhadri Layout and there is always some noise from the traffic passing by. Manjunath Bricks isn't a fancy office with big desks. It is mostly just a yard filled with red bricks and dust. We get up early to check the stock and see which trucks are coming in. Some days the sun is really hot and we have to take breaks in the shade. It’s hard work moving these things around all day. We see a lot of local builders coming through. They usually just pull up, talk for a bit about what they need for their current project, and we figure out the delivery. Most of the people around here know us because we’ve been at 27/881 for a long time now. Sometimes the rain messes up the yard and things get muddy, which makes it a mess to move the heavy loads. We just deal with it as it comes. There’s no big secret to what we do. It’s just making sure there are enough bricks for whoever needs them. Sometimes we run short and have to wait for more to be ready. That’s just how it goes with this kind of work. We try to keep things simple and just focus on the orders we have for the week. It’s not a glamorous job, but someone has to supply the materials for all the new houses going up around Uttarahalli.
