Mahalakshmi Building Material

Mahalakshmi Building Material is located down the lane where Choice Restaurant is in Koramangala. It’s a bit of a tight squeeze for the larger trucks, but we manage to get them in and out somehow. We deal with the basic stuff people need to build or fix houses. There are stacks of bricks, bags of cement that leave white dust on everything, and piles of sand. It’s a heavy business. We spend our days measuring out materials and loading them onto small tempos or carts. The lane can get pretty crowded, especially during lunch hours when people are heading to the restaurants nearby. We don't have a showroom or anything fancy. It’s just a yard with the supplies sitting there ready to go. My clothes usually have some cement stains on them by the end of the day. We talk to contractors and homeowners who just need a few things to finish a project. Sometimes we run out of a certain type of stone and have to wait for the next delivery to arrive. It’s not a complicated setup. We know the regulars by their names and what kind of projects they are working on. We’ve been here in Koramangala long enough to see buildings go up all around us using the very materials we’ve sold. It’s simple, honest work that keeps us busy from early morning until the sun goes down and we finally lock the gate for the night.
