Being in Cottonpet means dealing with a lot of noise and very narrow roads every single day. Our place, Mahalakshmi Agencies, is located on No. 8, GB Line. It is a busy spot where there is always someone shouting for a rickshaw or unloading a truck. We have been operating out of this small area for a long time. The walls are a bit faded and the shelves are stacked high with all sorts of stock. It is not the kind of place where you come to see a fancy showroom. It is more about moving goods and keeping track of the papers. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who walk in looking for specific items. The air in Cottonpet is always thick with the smell of the market and the dust from the street. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know where everything is kept. Sometimes we struggle to find a specific box in the back, but we always get there eventually. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and carrying, but it keeps us busy. We don't really have a big plan for the future, we just want to keep the shop running and serve the people who have been coming to us for years. It is just a simple life in a very crowded part of town, and we are quite content with how things are going for us here.
