Maa Provisions

We’ve been here at Chickpet Jacob Circle 4 for quite some time now. It’s a busy spot, always noisy with people moving around outside and the sound of traffic nearby. Inside, it’s mostly just us trying to keep things in order. Maa Provisions started because we needed something to do and this space was available. We keep all the usual stuff on the shelves, from dal and rice to little snacks people grab on their way home. The morning starts early, usually around seven when the first shutters go up around the circle. It gets dusty, but we sweep it out every day. There’s a lot of lifting heavy bags and rearranging crates so everything fits. Sometimes it feels like we’re playing a game of Tetris with the stock. People come in, they know where things are, and they don’t usually need much help. It’s just how it is. We don’t have fancy lights or a computer system that works all the time, just a simple counter and a diary to keep track of what’s what. The building itself is older, and the walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but it stays cool inside even when it’s hot outside. We spend most of our day talking to the regulars or just watching the traffic go by. It isn't a huge operation, just a regular place where we spend our hours. Anyway, that’s basically what happens here every day of the week.
