M. D Saloon is right on Cubbonpet Main Road, at house number 102. If you are walking down the street, you will probably see Ramesh Bakery first, and we are right near there. Cubbonpet is a very old and crowded part of Bangalore, so it’s always lively outside. Our saloon is a small place, the kind of spot where you can hear the traffic and the people shouting on the street while you get your hair cut. We have been here for quite some time, and the shop has that lived-in feel. It’s not one of those air-conditioned malls; it’s a real street-side saloon. We have the traditional big mirrors and the old-style barber chairs that are actually quite comfortable once you sit in them. We get a lot of workers from the local shops and people who live in the narrow lanes around here. It’s a fast-paced environment because there’s always someone waiting. We don’t do anything fancy, just standard cuts and shaves. The walls have a few posters and we usually have a small TV or a radio playing in the corner. It gets dusty because of the main road, so we are constantly cleaning. It’s a tough spot but it’s our home. We know the rhythm of the street, from the morning milk delivery to the late-night tea stalls closing up. It’s just how M. D Saloon is.
