Leelas Kitchen

Leelas Kitchen is tucked away here on Dickenson Road. It’s not a big restaurant, more like a kitchen where we spend all our time. We started this because we liked to cook and there was an empty space in Alkapuri. Every morning we go to the market to see what looks good. There’s no big truck delivering frozen stuff to us. We peel a lot of onions and chop a lot of vegetables by hand. The walls could probably use a new coat of paint, but the stove works fine. People living around BPC Road usually come in for lunch or take something back home for dinner. It’s mostly just us working here, trying to get the food out while it's still hot. Sometimes we run out of things by two in the afternoon, and that’s just how it goes. We don't have those fancy tablets for ordering. We just write it down on a pad of paper. It gets hot in the back during the summer, but we keep the fans going. It’s a bit of a squeeze when it’s busy. We try to keep things clean and the food tastes like what we eat at home. No special secrets or anything, just salt, spices, and a lot of stirring. It’s just a neighborhood kitchen where we try to get it right with what we have each day. We hope the regulars are happy enough.
