Lakshmi Bala

My place is at 18 Sangam Road in the Shivan Chetty Garden area of Bangalore. I’ve been here for a while now. Lakshmi Bala is the name I use for my work, but it’s really just me and a small room I’ve set up. Bangalore is a fast city, but this little pocket in 560042 feels a bit more like the old days. The street is narrow and there are lots of trees around, which is nice when it gets hot in the afternoon. I started this because I had some skills and wanted to put them to use without working for a big company. I like being my own boss, even if it means I have to do all the boring stuff like taxes and cleaning the floor myself. My workspace has a window that looks out onto the road, so I can see people passing by while I work. It’s not a fancy setup. I have a sturdy table and my tools spread out. Sometimes it gets a bit chaotic when I have a lot of projects going at once. I don't have a big staff or a marketing person. It’s just a direct, simple way to work. I handle the calls, I do the work, and I make sure things get delivered. It’s a lot of responsibility, but I enjoy the quiet of my own space. People in the neighborhood know me and stop by to chat sometimes. It’s a good way to live and work.
