If you’ve ever walked through Mamulpet, you know how busy and crowded it gets. Our shop, L Sohanraj Textiles, is right there at Shop No. 115. We are very close to Chickpet, so the whole area is just one big market for fabric and clothes. The lanes are so tight that you have to watch your step. Inside our shop, we have rolls of textiles stacked up everywhere. It’s a lot of different colors and materials, and it can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. We spend our day measuring out fabric and cutting it for people who come in. It’s a fast-paced way to work, and you’re on your feet most of the time. The air always has that specific smell of new cloth. We’ve been in this same spot for a long time. It’s a family business, so there’s no corporate hierarchy here. We just work together to get the orders filled. Sometimes the noise from the street is so loud we can hardly hear the customers, but we make do. We usually eat our lunch in shifts behind the counter when there’s a break in the crowd. It’s hard work and the days are long, but we like the energy of the market. People know they can find us here in the heart of Mamulpet.
