Shakambarinagar 1019 is where you’ll find our shop. It’s a small corner filled with jars and packets of all sorts of things. We’ve got everything from spicy mixtures to sweets. Most of the stuff we sell is made right here or brought in from people we’ve known for years. The shelves are always packed, sometimes so much that it’s hard to see what’s at the back. We spend a lot of our time weighing out snacks and tying up plastic bags. It’s a lot of repetitive work, but we like talking to the people who come in. Some of them have been buying their snacks from us since they were children. The air in here always smells like fried spices and sugar. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. If people want to know what we have, they just walk in and look at the shelves. Sometimes we run out of the popular items by noon, and we just have to tell people to wait for the next batch to come in. It’s a simple business. We don't have any fancy marketing. We just keep the jars full and the floor swept as much as we can. It’s a bit cramped when there are more than three people inside, but that’s just how these old shops are. We’re happy to be a part of the street here in Shakambarinagar.
