We do food for local events around Nagarabavi. It started out small, mostly helping friends and neighbors when they had people over for birthdays or small gatherings. Bellappa’s son runs things now over in Kaylananaga. We aren't a big catering company with shiny trucks and fancy uniforms. It’s mostly just us in the kitchen getting the big pots ready early in the morning before the sun even comes up. We cook what people ask for, usually traditional stuff that we grew up eating in our own homes. Sometimes the kitchen gets really hot and crowded, especially during the wedding season when everyone wants their events on the same dates. We don't have a big office or a website with professional photos. Most people just call us or drop by the house to talk about what they need for their party. We get our vegetables from the local market nearby every morning. If something doesn't look fresh, we don't buy it. It's a lot of hard work, standing on your feet all day and stirring big vats of food with heavy wooden paddles. We've had some very long nights making sure everything is chopped and ready for a breakfast service the next day. It’s just how it goes in this kind of business. We don't use any secret recipes, just the way our families taught us to cook over the years. People seem to like it well enough since they keep calling us back. We just try to do a decent job and make sure there’s enough food for everyone.
