Khane Chal

Khane Chal is a name we picked because it's what my friends and I always say when we're hungry. We are located near the Bangalore GPO area and also have a connection over in Vastrapur. It started as a very small idea between two friends who just wanted to cook the food we grew up with. We don't have a big fancy menu with pictures. It's just written on a chalkboard by the entrance. Sometimes my handwriting is a bit messy, and people have to ask what a certain word is. The kitchen equipment is mostly stuff we bought over time as we saved up some money. It’s not the newest gear, but it gets the job done. We’ve had some long nights where we stayed up late preparing everything for the next day, drinking way too much tea to stay awake. The seating is pretty basic, just some metal chairs and sturdy tables. It can get a bit loud when the place is full, especially since the acoustics aren't great in this building. We’ve had some trouble with the plumbing in the back, so there’s always a bucket or two around just in case. We don't try to act like we're something we're not. We are just a local spot where you can get a hot plate of food without any fuss. It's a bit chaotic, but that’s just how it is.
