Our spot here on Whitefield 2nd Cross is usually humming with activity from the moment we open the doors. If you know this area, you know how the traffic can get, so we see plenty of people stopping in just to take a break from the road. Working at KFC isn't exactly quiet. Between the timers going off and the sound of the fryers, there’s always something making noise in the back. We spend a lot of time just keeping the floor clean because people track in a lot of dust from the street. The lunch hour is always the craziest part of the day. We’re all back there trying to keep up with the screens, bagging things up and making sure the buckets are ready to go. Sometimes the soda machine acts up or we run low on napkins, and we have to scramble to fix it while the line keeps growing. It’s a lot of standing on your feet and dealing with the heat from the kitchen. We see families, office workers, and students coming in. Some people want to sit and use the Wi-Fi for an hour, while others are out the door in two minutes. We just try to keep the flow moving so nobody is waiting too long. It’s just a regular day of frying chicken and keeping the place running as best as we can in this busy corner of Whitefield. We’re just here doing our jobs and getting through the shift together.
