We are located at HSR Layout 598, and if you come by in the morning, you’ll probably see flour dust on the windows. Keik Tupiou is a small operation, mostly just a few of us who really like baking things that look a bit different. We aren't a big commercial bakery where everything is made by a machine. We crack every egg and mix the batter in bowls that we’ve had since we opened. Sometimes the cakes come out looking a little wonky, but they always taste like they were made in a real kitchen. The shop in HSR Layout is small, so we don't have much room for people to sit and eat. Most folks just pop in to pick up a box for a birthday or a treat for later. We spend a lot of our time experimenting with different toppings and fruits we find at the market. It’s not always organized; there are usually lists of orders pinned to the wall and timers going off at different times. We get a lot of local families coming in, and we’ve seen their kids grow up over the years. We don't have a social media manager or anyone like that. We just focus on the oven and making sure the frosting isn't too sweet. It’s a simple life, surrounded by the smell of vanilla and warm bread. We just do our best with every batch we put in.
