Kauser Jahan

Kauser Jahan’s place is at 10 Kumara Park West, specifically on 10th ‘B’ Cross and 29th Main. We are in the I Phase area, quite close to where the old Natraj Theatre used to be. Most people in Bangalore know that theatre, so it’s a good way to tell them where we are. The neighborhood is one of those older parts of the city where the streets are a bit narrow and there are lots of houses tucked away. The office is inside a building that has been here for years. It’s got a small veranda out front where a few potted plants are struggling to grow. Inside, the space is divided into a couple of rooms. The main area has a desk that is covered in papers and a telephone that rings quite a lot. There’s a ceiling fan that makes a clicking sound on its highest setting. We have some wooden chairs for people to sit on while they wait. The walls are painted a creamy color, though there are some scuff marks near the floor. It’s a very quiet place most of the time, except when the local dogs start barking at someone passing by. We don't have fancy decorations or modern furniture. Everything here is functional and has been used for a long time. We know the neighbors and the local shopkeepers around the corner. It’s a comfortable, old-fashioned way to work in a city that is changing so fast.
