Kamakshi Water Supply

Kamakshi Water Supply operates out of Micro House, number 51 on Narayan Dhuru Street in Ganganagar, right in the heart of Mandvi Masjid Bunder. If you know this area, you know how incredibly crowded and narrow the streets are. It’s a constant struggle getting anything in or out of here. We deal with water supply, which means we are always coordinating between the tankers and the people who need them. The phone rings a lot, and it’s usually someone asking where their delivery is. The office is tiny, just enough room for a desk and a couple of chairs for us to sit. We spend a lot of time standing outside on the street because it’s actually cooler than being inside the small room during the summer. There’s a lot of shouting and noise from the porters and the carts moving through Mandvi. It’s a very old part of the city, and you can feel it in the buildings and the way things are run. We don’t have any fancy technology, just our logs and a few mobile phones to keep track of everything. The air is always thick with the smell of spices from the nearby markets and the exhaust from the trucks. We start very early, usually before the sun is fully up, to beat some of the worst traffic on the street. It’s a tough environment, but we’ve made it our home for the work day.
