Junior Resident In Nimhans

Living and working as a Junior Resident at Nimhans means my life mostly revolves around this small area of Bangalore. I’m currently staying over at Dno 191 in the Kpwd Quarters which is located in Jeevanbhimanagar. It’s a convenient spot because it’s close enough to the hospital that I don’t spend hours in the famous Bangalore traffic, though the commute can still be a bit of a headache during peak times. The quarters are pretty basic and have that old government housing feel to them, but they serve the purpose when you’re too tired to care about aesthetics. Most of the people living around here are also working in public service so there’s a quiet understanding among neighbors. My days are long and often quite unpredictable because that’s just how residency goes. I might be at the hospital for eighteen hours and then come back here just to crash for a few hours. There is a small tea stall nearby where I usually stop in the mornings if I have a moment. The Jeevanbhimanagar area has grown a lot lately and there are more shops popping up around the 75 pincode zone. It’s not a glamorous lifestyle but it is what I’m doing right now. I share the space with a few books and a lot of half-empty coffee mugs. We just try to get through the shifts and keep up with the workload at the institute.
