Janatha Traders

We are located at number 227 in Chickpet, right near the Kashi Temple. If you have ever been to Chickpet, you know how the streets are narrow and always full of people pushing carts or carrying heavy loads. Janatha Traders has been in this spot for a long time. Our shop is quite small and the ceiling is high, so we’ve built shelves all the way up to make use of every inch of space. We have to use a tall wooden ladder to get things from the top, which can be a bit tricky when the shop is full of people. The temple nearby means we hear the bells and the chanting every day, which is actually quite nice amidst all the noise of the market. We don't have air conditioning, just a few ceiling fans that spin all day long. It gets quite stuffy in the afternoons, but we are used to it. Most of our customers are other traders or people who have been coming to Chickpet for years. They know exactly where to find us. We don't do any fancy advertising or have a big sign. The name Janatha Traders is just painted on a board above the door. We keep our records in big thick books and do all the math in our heads or with a small calculator. It’s a busy life and there’s never a dull moment. We just take things one day at a time and focus on the work right in front of us.
