Working out of UB City on Vittal Mallya Road is a bit different from your average office. We’re up on Level 3 of the Concorde Block, which is a big glass building that always feels very busy. Every morning there’s a bit of a wait for the lifts because everyone is trying to get to their desks at the same time. The view from the windows is pretty good, though you mostly see other tall buildings and the traffic down below. Inside, it’s a lot of open-plan desks and people talking on their headsets. It’s a corporate environment, I suppose, but we try to keep it grounded. We spend most of our time looking at property data and talking to clients about floor space or lease terms. It involves a lot of spreadsheets and emails back and forth. Lunch usually means heading down to the food court or grabbing something quick from one of the shops downstairs. Everything in this building is very polished and shiny, which is a bit strange when you think about the actual work of managing buildings and land. Sometimes the air conditioning is too cold and we have to wear sweaters even when it’s hot outside. It’s a fast-paced place to be, and there’s always someone running late for a meeting in one of the conference rooms. We just try to stay on top of the paperwork and keep things moving as best as we can.
