You can find us in New Thippasandra, right in the heart of the residential area. We specialize in idly and we’ve been doing this for many years now. The shop is quite small, so you won't find any place to sit down inside. Most people just stand on the road or lean against their scooters while they eat. We start the preparation very early, usually while it is still dark outside. The smell of the fermenting batter is something we’ve grown very used to. We use large stainless steel steamers that hiss and let out clouds of white steam all morning. It’s a lot of work to keep up with the demand, especially on the weekends when people come with their own containers to take food home for their whole family. Our chutney is made fresh in big batches and we often run out before the end of the morning. We don't have a fancy sign or any neon lights. The walls are just painted a plain color and we have a few hooks to hang bags on. We don't use any modern marketing tricks. We just focus on making sure the idlies are soft and hot. The pavement outside gets a bit crowded, but the neighbors are used to it by now. It’s a simple, honest business and we just keep to the routine of it every day. We don't plan on changing anything because what we do works for the people who come here.
