Hamsa'S Andhra Style Food Corner

You can find us at 117/1 on the Pune Satara Road in Kalyan Nagar. We started this place because we wanted to serve the kind of Andhra food we grew up with. It is a small corner shop and it can get quite hot inside when the stoves are all going. We use a lot of spice and chilies in our cooking, so the air usually smells like roasted peppers. Most people come here for the biryani or the meals served on steel plates. We don't have a lot of space, so you might have to share a table with a stranger if it is busy. The floor is just plain cement and we have some basic fans on the ceiling to move the air around. We go to the market ourselves to pick out the meat and the spices because we like to see what we are buying. Sometimes the curries are a bit saltier one day than the next, but that is just how home-style cooking goes. We don't have any fancy menus, just what is available for the day. My wife helps with the recipes and I manage the front. It is a simple life and a simple business. We close up when the food runs out, which happens pretty often on the weekends. It is just honest food for people who like spice.
