G.M. Convent School

G.M. Convent School is over on Cambridge Road in the Ulsoor area of Bangalore. We are at number 15, which is a spot that gets a fair amount of traffic during the day. The school itself isn’t huge, but we’ve managed to fit everything we need into the space. It has that old-school Bangalore feel to it, with some trees nearby and the sound of the city always in the background. Most of our students live in the surrounding streets of Ulsoor and Jogupalya. They walk to school or come on bicycles, and we have a small area where they can park them. The classrooms are simple with plain walls and rows of desks. We try to keep the place looking decent, though the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint every now and then. The teachers here are mostly locals who have been with us for a long time. They know which kids are brothers and sisters and which ones live on which street. We don’t have a giant auditorium, so we do our assemblies and events in the main open area. It’s a bit tight when everyone is there at once, but we make it work. It’s a straightforward school where we focus on the basic subjects and making sure everyone follows the rules. It feels like a small community where everyone is just doing their job day in and day out.
