Gifts & Plastic Zone

If you’re ever near Ranganatha Complex, you’ll find Gifts & Plastic Zone right across from the HMT Ground. It’s a busy spot, especially when there’s a game going on or some event at the ground. We have a lot of plastic stuff and gifts piled up inside. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room for everything, but we manage to find what people need eventually. Mirzapur in Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar is a good place to be, even with the traffic being what it is. I spend a lot of time moving boxes around or dusting off the shelves. Customers come in looking for simple things for their homes, or maybe a small toy for a kid’s birthday. We keep the doors open mostly all day, and the breeze from the ground across the street helps when it gets hot. The shelves are packed with buckets, containers, and all those little gift items that people like to browse through. I’ve been here at number 400 for years now. I know the regular faces who walk by every day on their way to the park. It's not a big corporate store, just a local shop where things are a bit messy sometimes. We just try to help folks find what they are looking for without making a big fuss about it. It’s a steady rhythm of unpacking new stock and chatting with the locals who pop in to see what's new. Sometimes the lights flicker, but we just keep going. It is what it is.
