Gift Center

Our shop is right near the Indian Petrol Bunk in Chandra Layout. It’s a convenient spot on 1st Main Road because people can just pull over while they are out running errands. We call it Gift Center because that’s exactly what we have. It’s a mix of toys, decorative items, and things for the house. The shelves are pretty packed. We have to move things around constantly to make room for new stuff that comes in. You might find a nice vase on one shelf and a board game right next to it. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. During the festival seasons, it gets quite crowded in here. We spend a lot of time helping people find a birthday present for a kid or a small token for a wedding. The floor is tiled and we try to keep it swept, but with people coming in from the street, it's a never-ending job. We don’t have any fancy displays. We just put things where they fit. Sometimes the tape for the wrapping paper goes missing and we have to hunt for it under a pile of cards. It’s just how it goes in a small retail shop. We know most of the neighbors by now. They stop in for a quick chat or to see if we’ve got anything new. It’s a friendly place and we just try to keep things simple and helpful.
