Ghs Old School

Ghs Old School is located over on No.77, 19th Cross near Kuvempu Circle. We have been sitting here on Ittamadu Main Road in Banashankari 3rd Stage for a long time. People in the neighborhood just call it the old school because that is exactly what it is. The building shows its age a bit but it is sturdy and has character. We have kids coming in from all the nearby streets in Bangalore. It is a very local setup. There is no big gate or security guard like the newer private schools have. Just a simple entrance where parents stop their scooters in the morning to drop off their children. Inside it is mostly the sound of chalk on boards and kids reciting their lessons. We don't have fancy computer labs or anything like that. It’s just desks and chairs and books. The staffroom is always full of old folders and half-drunk cups of tea. We spend a lot of time just making sure the kids are actually showing up and doing their work. Sometimes the roof leaks a little when the monsoon hits hard but we put a bucket under it and keep going. It is a community thing really. Everyone knows everyone else's business around here. We just provide a place for the neighborhood children to get their education. If you walk past Kuvempu Circle you can’t miss us. We are the ones with the noisy playground and the old blue gates.
