We are up here on the first floor at number 56 on Subbarama Chetty Road. It is a busy spot in Basavanagudi, and you can always hear the traffic from the street downstairs throughout the day. G.H.P.School has been in this building for a while now. Most days start pretty early when the sun is just coming up over the rooftops. We spend a lot of time just keeping things organized. The hallway is narrow, so we have to tell the kids to keep their bags in a straight line. It gets a bit chaotic when classes change over, but that is just how it is here. Some of the desks have seen better days, and we are always looking for more chalk, but the rooms stay mostly cool even in the afternoon. People in the neighborhood know us well. They walk past the gate every day on their way to the market or the temple. We do not have a big playground or anything fancy like that. The kids play where they can find space during their breaks. Sometimes it is just about getting through the lessons before the rain starts or before the power goes out. We try to keep the windows open for the breeze, though the dust comes in too. It is just a regular place where we show up, teach what needs teaching, and go home when the bell rings at the end of the day. There is not much more to it than that.
