Gelakey High School

Our school is over at No 171 in Bilekahalli, right along that stretch of Bannerghatta Road. It is a busy spot to be in, that’s for sure. Gelakey High School has been part of this neighborhood for a while now. We see the same faces every morning when the shops start opening up nearby. The building itself is pretty simple, just some concrete walls and the usual blue gates. We spend our mornings getting the classrooms ready before the sun gets too hot. Bannerghatta Road is always full of buses and cars, so there is a constant hum of engines in the background while we work. We have a small area out front where the parents drop off their kids. Inside, the hallways are narrow and the walls have been painted a few times over the years. We keep some old benches in the lobby for people to sit while they wait. It’s not a corporate office environment here at all. We mostly just talk about the lessons and what the kids are up to. Lunchtime is when it gets really loud, with everyone opening their boxes at once. We usually have to remind everyone to stay quiet near the stairs. It is just a regular school where we show up, do our jobs, and go home when the gates are locked at five. The street lights are usually just coming on when the last of us leaves the building for the day.
