Gelabil Hige School

We are located right near the Ramalingeswara Cave Temple in Hulimavu. If you know Bannerghatta Road, you know how busy it gets around here. Our building at Gelabil Hige School isn't fancy or anything, just a regular place where we spend our days. Most of us have been working here for quite a few years now. You can hear the temple bells sometimes when the windows are open, which is nice during the quiet parts of the morning. The traffic outside is always there, though. We have some classrooms that get a lot of sun in the afternoon. The kids mostly come from the surrounding lanes in Hulimavu. It’s a bit of a walk from the main road, but people find us eventually. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a desk and some chairs near the entrance where parents come to talk. Sometimes the monkeys from the temple area come around, so we have to keep the windows shut in some rooms. It’s just a normal school day for us, starting early and ending when the sun is still high. We spend a lot of time cleaning the chalk dust off the floors. There isn't a lot of space for a playground, so the kids make do with the courtyard. It’s noisy and a bit chaotic when the bell rings at the end of the day, but that is just how it is. We know most of the families around here by name.
