Gdr English Medium Public School

Our school is located quite a bit outside the main city, right at the 25th mile mark on Kanakapura Road. Somanahalli is much more of a rural area compared to the busy parts of Bangalore. We are based at No. 226/227. Because we are out here in the open, we actually have a lot of space around the building. You can even see the hills in the distance when the morning is clear and there isn't much haze. The highway is just a short distance away, so we hear the big inter-city buses and trucks zooming past all day long. Since we are an English medium school, we spend a lot of our time helping the local kids with their speaking and reading skills. The building is a sturdy concrete structure that stays fairly cool, which is a relief when the sun is out. We have a large yard where the kids play football or just run around in the dirt. We don't have all the high-tech facilities you see in the city center, but we have everything we need to teach. The commute out here can be long for some of the staff, but it's nice to be away from the city's dust and noise. We start the day very early before it gets too warm. There is a tiny shop just down the road where we go to buy chalk or extra paper when we run out unexpectedly. The local villagers all know where the school is. We have a few old benches under the trees where we sit during the lunch hour.
