Gd Goenka Public School

Our school is located in the Old Bank Colony area. You have to take a turn at Rishyashringa Cross Road to find where we are. It’s tucked off Amruthnagar Main Road, which is a bit of a detour from the main Kanakapura Road. Being at No 45 means we are far enough back that the traffic noise isn't too loud, though you can still hear the occasional horn. We are in the building every day from about eight in the morning until four in the afternoon. There are quite a few rooms and some long corridors where the children line up for their classes. It can be a bit confusing to navigate if you aren't here every day. The teachers spent some time last weekend moving the cupboards around in the library just to create a little more space for the books. It is these small, everyday tasks that really keep the place going. We have a playground that gets a lot of direct sun in the afternoon, so we try to keep the kids in the shade of the few trees we have. We see the same parents and van drivers every single morning at the gate. The security guard has been here a long time and knows everyone by their face. Inside, the place has that typical school smell of chalk dust and old paper. We have a small corner where we keep a kettle for making tea during the breaks. Sometimes we stay late to discuss the schedule or fix a broken desk. It is just a normal, busy school environment without any fuss.
