Being situated out on The Valley School Campus feels quite different from the rest of the city. We are located in Thataguni Post, which is a good way down Kanakapura Road, almost where the city starts to end. The air here actually feels a little bit cleaner than what you get in the middle of Bangalore. Most mornings, it is very quiet, and you can only hear the birds or the wind moving through the trees before the students show up. We have our rooms set up in a very basic way because we don't need much to get the day started. Sometimes the school bus gets stuck in traffic near the city junctions, so we start a bit late, but no one really minds too much. The campus has plenty of open space, which is a nice change of pace. We are tucked back from the main road, so we don’t get all that dust from the big trucks that head out towards the highway. Our address is easy to find if you are looking for the post office nearby. The buildings are older and have a bit of character to them, not like those glass boxes you see in the tech parks. We just go about our work, teaching and making sure the classrooms are swept. Lunchtime is the only part of the day when it gets truly loud. Everyone has a favorite tree they like to sit under. By the time the sun starts going down behind the hills, we begin locking up. It’s just how our days go in this quiet corner.
