Gade Rukma Reddy Memorial High School

Gade Rukma Reddy Memorial High School is situated near the Ashoka Pillar area in Jayanagar 1st Block. You can find us on 7th Cross. It is a well-known spot because of the pillar nearby. Our building has been part of this street for many years now. It is a high school, so we deal with the older kids who are getting ready for their board exams and all that stress. The atmosphere inside is usually quite serious, though you hear plenty of laughing during the lunch hour. We have a small courtyard where everyone gathers. The classrooms are basic with wooden desks that have seen a lot of use over the seasons. We do not go in for fancy decorations or high-tech gadgets if we can avoid it. It is about the books and the writing. The teachers here are local people who walk or take the bus to get to work. We know the shopkeepers on the corner and the people living in the houses next door. It is a very integrated part of the neighborhood. Sometimes the traffic on Ashoka Pillar Road gets backed up, and the horns are a bit loud, but we are used to that Bangalore life. We just keep our heads down and do the work of running the school. Every day is a mix of paperwork and teaching. It is just the way we like to operate and we are here for the long haul for sure.
