You can find us at Essen Impex on the third floor of the Swiss Complex, which is at 33 Race Course Road. It’s a good location, though the traffic during race days can be a real nightmare. Our office, unit 309, is where we spend most of our time. It’s a mix of desks, old filing cabinets, and samples of the stuff we import and export. We’ve been here for a while, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re usually too busy to worry about that. The lighting isn't the best, but it gets the job done. We spend a lot of time on the phone with suppliers and checking on shipping schedules. It’s not a fancy life. We drink a lot of instant coffee and sometimes the printer jams right when we need a manifest. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just a few of us who know the business well. We talk to each other across the room instead of sending internal emails. Sometimes we have to stay late to deal with time zones, but that’s just part of the trade. We don't make big promises we can't keep. We just try to get the goods from point A to point B without too much trouble. It’s straightforward, everyday work that keeps us busy from morning till evening, and we just try to keep things moving.
