Engineer

My name is V. Ravindra Reddy. I do my engineering work from Deepalaya House, which is located on Plot No J-3 in Rajeev Nagar. This is in Hospet, part of the Bellary district in Karnataka. I’ve lived in this house for many years, so it was natural to set up my workspace here. It isn't a polished corporate office. It is a home where I happens to do my work. I have a room filled with blueprints and my old college books. People from the local area come by when they have a construction project or a technical problem they can't solve. I like talking to them over a cup of tea. It feels more natural than sitting in a boardroom. Hospet is a place with a lot of dust because of the mining and construction, so I am always cleaning my desk. I don't have a secretary or anyone to answer the phones. If you call, you get me. I try to keep things simple and honest. If a job is going to take two weeks, I won't tell you it will be done in one. My neighbors are good people, and we all look out for each other. I’ve seen Rajeev Nagar grow from a few houses to a busy layout. I plan to stay here and keep working as long as I am able. It is a quiet, decent life.
