E L V Furniture

We are located at No 9 in R T Nagar, and you can usually hear us before you see us. The sound of saws and sanding machines is pretty constant around here during the day. E L V Furniture is a small operation, mostly just a few of us working with wood and trying to make things that last. The shop is always full of sawdust, no matter how much we sweep it up. We make all kinds of things like chairs, tables, and cabinets. Sometimes a customer comes in with a rough idea drawn on a piece of paper, and we try to turn that into something real for them. It’s satisfying to see a pile of raw timber become a finished piece of furniture. We don’t use any of those big automated machines; it’s mostly hand tools and a lot of patience. Sometimes a joint doesn't fit quite right the first time, so we have to go back and trim it again. That is just part of the craft. R T Nagar is a nice place to work, and we know many of the neighbors. People stop by to chat while we’re working, which slows us down a bit, but we don't mind. It feels like a real community here. We just want to make decent stuff that people can actually use in their homes.
