Dhanalakshmi Spices

You can find us at Old Thargupet, specifically at 30/G1. This part of the city is always full of activity, especially with all the wholesale trade going on. Dhanalakshmi Spices is basically a place where we deal with bags and bags of different things. The air inside the shop always smells like a mix of everything we have on the floor. It’s a strong scent that stays on your clothes long after you leave. We spend a lot of time weighing out portions and tying up bags for the people who come by. It’s a dusty job, and our hands are usually covered in some kind of powder by the end of the shift. The old metal scale we use is probably older than some of the staff here. We don’t have a flashy showroom. It’s more of a workspace where we get things ready. The floor is often covered with sacks that just arrived or are waiting to be picked up. We keep track of everything in a ledger, the old-fashioned way. It works for us. The neighbors are mostly other traders, so we all know each other and the rhythm of the market. When the sun goes down, we start moving the heavy stuff inside to lock up. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We’ve been at this spot for quite some time now, and not much has changed in how we handle our daily business.
