De Glamour Beauty Salon

We've been here on the first floor on 8th Main in Vasanth Nagar for a good while now. It’s a busy spot, and sometimes finding parking is a bit of a headache for folks, but they still climb up the stairs to see us. The shop isn't huge, just enough space for our chairs and the mirrors. Most days start around ten when the shutters go up. We see a lot of the same faces from around the neighborhood. It’s quiet in the mornings, then things pick up after lunch. We keep the place clean, though the floor gets covered in hair pretty quick when we’re busy. My cousin used to work here with me, but now it’s just a small team. We spend a lot of time talking about the weather or how much the city is changing. Vasanth Nagar has a lot of old trees left, which is nice. Sometimes the light comes in through the window just right in the afternoon. We don’t have any fancy waiting area, just a few plastic stools for people to sit while they wait their turn. We try to keep things simple here. Nothing too complicated, just doing what we know how to do. The fans hum all day long. If you look out the window, you can see the shops across the street. It’s just a regular part of the day for us, being here and keeping the shop running. We’ve been doing this for years and it feels like home now. We like it here.
