Dakshins Spicy Powders

Dakshins Spicy Powders is situated on the first floor of Plot Number 9, right at the 15th Cross of 8th Main in Bandappa Gardens. We are tucked away behind J P Park in Mathikere. It’s a bit of a hidden spot, but once you find the stairs, it’s easy enough. We chose this location because it’s a bit quieter than being right on the main road. We spend our days roasting and grinding various spices into powders. The space isn’t very large, so we have to keep everything very tidy. We have a few small machines that we maintain ourselves. The smell of the roasting spices often drifts out through the windows, which probably lets everyone in the park know we are working. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We handle everything from the cleaning of the raw seeds to the final packing into small plastic pouches. It’s a very manual process. We don't have a marketing budget or any fancy flyers. Most of our customers are people who live in the surrounding blocks or small restaurant owners who know we are here. Sometimes it’s a struggle to get the heavy sacks up to the first floor, but we manage. It’s just a normal, everyday business trying to provide something useful to the community. We like the routine and the familiar faces who drop by.
