D C Hoist & Instruments

We are based at 71 Prakash Nagar, up on the first floor near the Taljai Om Mitr Mandal. It’s a fairly typical industrial-style neighborhood. Our space is mostly taken up by various instruments and parts for hoists. It’s not exactly a clean, white-carpet kind of office. There’s usually a bit of grease on the tables and the smell of metal in the air. We have a few workbenches where we check the equipment and a couple of desks for the billing and paperwork side of things. It’s a small operation, and most of us have been doing this for years. We know the machines inside and out. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow, so moving larger items can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. We usually have the radio playing in the background while we work. It’s a practical place for people who are more concerned with how a piece of equipment works than how the office looks. We don't have any fancy signage or anything like that. Most of our visitors are people we’ve known for a long time who come by to pick up parts or talk about a repair. We just take things as they come, handling the orders and making sure the instruments are in good shape before they go out. It’s steady work, and we like the location because it’s easy for our regulars to find. The light in the workshop isn't the best in the evening, but we have enough lamps to see what we're doing.
