City Durbar is located at 76/1 in Tilak Nagar. It’s a busy corner of the world. We have been serving food here for quite a long time now. Most of what we do involves big pots of rice and meat. You can smell the spices from down the street when the wind is blowing the right way. The shop isn't very large. We have a few tables and they are usually full. People from Tilak Nagar know us well and stop by often. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or posters. The word just gets around by itself. We start the cooking early in the morning so everything is ready by the noon rush. It’s a lot of heavy lifting with the big degchis in the kitchen. The floor gets a bit greasy sometimes from the cooking, but we scrub it down every single night after we close. We aren't trying to be a five-star hotel. We just want to serve a good plate of food that fills you up for the day. Sometimes the line gets a bit long and people have to wait on the sidewalk for a seat. We try to move as fast as we can to help them. It’s just me and a couple of others working here. We know how people like their food. Some want more spice, some want less. We try to remember what the regulars like. It’s a noisy place but it’s ours.
