Chinnappa Stores

Chinnappa Stores is tucked away in Kalyan Nagar, specifically in E Block on 9th B Main. Our door number is 522. My father was the one who actually got this place going many years ago, and I just sort of took over after a while. It is a traditional kind of store where you can find most of the things you need for the house. The shelves are quite high and a bit rickety, so we always have a sturdy wooden stool nearby to reach the top rows. We have never seen the need to change much about how the shop looks. The floor tiles are a bit cracked in the corners, and the light flickers sometimes, but it has a lot of character. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. They come in for their groceries or household items and we end up chatting about the weather or the local news for ten minutes. It is a slow way of doing business, but we like it that way. We don't use those barcode scanners or anything high-tech. I still use a big calculator with giant buttons and write every sale down in a ledger book. It keeps my head sharp. During the rainy season, the roof leaks a little near the back, so we have to move some of the bags around. We are just a local family trying to provide what the neighborhood needs.
