Chatkhara

Chatkhara is situated near the Domlur BDA Complex, specifically at Domlur Trivium, 6-A Cross. The address is a bit of a mouthful, including 10th Main and Rmv Extension No-793. We are pretty close to the bus stand, which means we get a lot of people who are just passing through and need a quick bite. It’s mostly standing room here. We make a lot of different snacks, and the pans are always sizzling. The 1St Main, 2Nd Stage area is always moving, so we have to move fast too. We don't have time for long conversations. You order, you eat, and you go. The smell of frying oil and tamarind water is what we live with every day. Sometimes the water supply is a bit slow, so we have to be careful with how we manage things. We don't have any awards on the wall or fancy decorations. It’s just a counter and some metal bowls. The floor gets sticky with spilled chutney by five in the evening, so we are always scrubbing. We deal with all kinds of people, from office workers to bus drivers. It’s a noisy spot because of the buses, but we’ve gotten used to the sound of the engines. We just keep the stove going and wait for the next rush of people coming from the station. The rain usually brings more people in who want something fried. We usually shut down when the sun goes down.
